The Embakasi East legislator was the favourite pick of 33 percent of respondents, followed by Siaya Senator and ODM party leader Oburu Odinga at 10 percent.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has emerged as the most preferred Luo leader, a new Infotrak poll reveals.

The survey, released on December 28, 2025, showed that respondents largely view Babu Owino as the best successor to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

He was the favourite pick of 33 percent of respondents, followed by Siaya Senator and ODM party leader Oburu Odinga at 10 percent.

Other notable figures included Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga with seven percent, Siaya Governor James Orengo at four percent, and Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi and Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omolo, each with two percent.

Several others—including Treasury CS John Mbadi, Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, lawyer Miguna Miguna, EALA MP Winnie Odinga, and Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko—garnered one percent each.

Infotrak noted that 37 percent of respondents were undecided.

Despite his popularity within the Luo community, the poll indicates that only seven percent of Kenyans would vote for Babu Owino if elections were held today.

The end-of-year survey was conducted on December 19 and 20, 2025, and was sponsored by Infotrak Research & Consulting Limited.

Researchers used Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) to gather quantitative data from a sample of 1,000 adults aged 18 and above.

The sampling frame was based on the 2019 Census, using Population Proportionate to Size (PPS) to ensure proportional representation across Kenya’s 47 counties.

Infotrak reported a 99 percent response rate and a margin of error of +/-3.10 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.

The dataset was weighted to correct for minor discrepancies in demographic representation.

Data was processed and analyzed using SPSS 27 statistical software, allowing for high accuracy and reliability.

The survey covered all regions of Kenya, with sample distribution proportionately allocated to ensure national representativeness.
