Police in Murang'a County are holding a suspect accused of terrorising residents following a series of violent crimes.

In a statement on January 3, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) said the suspect was flushed out of his hideout on the outskirts of Kenol Town in Murang'a South Sub-County during the early hours of the morning.

The arrest was effected by officers from Murang'a Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Murang'a.

The arrest led to that of three other individuals, who were apprehended in Ichagaki, Maragua, in connection with a string of violent crimes across Murang’a and surrounding areas.

“These suspects have been linked to a series of robberies during which they also assaulted victims with machetes,” the NPS said.

During the operation, police recovered several items, including three motorcycles—one believed to have been used by the suspects during the robberies and two suspected to be stolen.

Additional items seized included assorted mobile phones, a machete, a knife, a Maasai rungu, a crowbar, and two television sets.

The suspects remain in police custody pending arraignment, as the NPS assured the public of its commitment to serve and protect.
