The Communications Authority of Kenya will hold an online sensitisation forum on April 7, 2026, to guide businesses on accessing government procurement opportunities.
The session targets youth, women and persons with disabilities, aiming to strengthen supplier capacity and promote participation in public tenders through electronic procurement systems across the country.
In a public notice on Thursday, the authority said the training session will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 10:00am to 12:00pm (East Africa Time), and will be delivered virtually to allow broad participation.
The forum targets stakeholders as well as current and prospective suppliers, contractors and service providers, with a particular focus on enterprises owned by youth, women and persons living with disabilities.
The authority said the initiative is in line with the Government of Kenya’s policy of facilitating participation of these groups in public procurement.
It noted that the programme is designed to ensure inclusivity and equal access to business opportunities within government systems.
“The Authority plans to hold a sensitization forum for the stakeholders as well as current and prospective suppliers, contractors and service providers,” the notice stated.
According to the authority, the session will focus on building capacity among suppliers to improve their ability to compete for tenders.
It emphasised that many businesses still face challenges navigating procurement processes, particularly with the transition to digital systems.
“The purpose of this session is to enhance supplier capacity in the tendering in line with Government directives on the adoption of electronic procurement processes,” the notice said.
The forum will be conducted online, reflecting the growing shift towards digital platforms in both service delivery and public engagement. Participants will be able to join the session through a designated link provided by the authority.
The Communications Authority outlined its broader mandate, noting that it serves as the regulatory agency for Kenya’s information and communications technology sector. Its responsibilities include oversight of telecommunications, e-commerce, cyber security, broadcasting and postal and courier services.
In addition, the authority manages numbering and frequency spectrum resources, administers the Universal Service Fund, and safeguards the interests of consumers of ICT services.
By hosting the forum, the authority aims to bridge knowledge gaps and improve participation in government tenders, particularly among underrepresented groups.
The training is expected to provide practical insights into procurement requirements, procedures and compliance standards.
The authority say the move is part of a wider effort to strengthen transparency and efficiency in public procurement, while also supporting economic inclusion.
The authority has encouraged interested participants to register and attend the session, highlighting the importance of awareness and preparedness in accessing available opportunities.
The notice listed several regional offices, including those in Eldoret, Mombasa, Nyeri and Kisumu, reaffirming the authority’s nationwide presence and outreach capacity.
As Kenya continues to digitise government services, initiatives such as this forum are expected to play a key role in ensuring that businesses are equipped to adapt to changing systems.
The Communications Authority said the sensitisation session will serve as a platform to empower suppliers with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively engage in public procurement processes, ultimately contributing to broader economic participation and growth.
