Police in Lang'ata Sub County have begun investigations into the mysterious death of a first-year student from Multimedia University.
The body of Sylvia Kemunto was discovered dumped inside a water tank on the campus grounds on Wednesday, 2, 2025.
Nairobi county police boss George Seda said officers were alerted that the body of the young lady, who disappeared on Sunday, was seen in the tank.
The police chief suspects that the victim was strangled before her body was shoved into the water tank.
Seda stated that they are searching for the victim's boyfriend, who is currently at large, based on witness reports that he was last seen leaving the victim’s room in Block E at the university.
The body has been moved to the City morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, in the neighboring Kibra constituency, police are investigating a fire that left hundreds of Lainisaba residents homeless.
The blaze destroyed over 200 structures, leaving several victims facing significant losses.
Seda mentioned that they are investigating the fire, suspecting that a faulty electricity connection may have been the cause.
The constituency has experienced a high number of fire incidents recently.
