Journalist Moses Dola Otieno has been released from prison after completing a 10-year sentence for the death of his wife, Sarah Wambui.
High Court Judge Alexander Muteti, in a virtual court seesion, granted his application for review and further directed the prison department to release him immediately unless he is being held on other legal grounds.
Dola expressed gratitude to the judge and shared his hope of appearing before him again after completing law school.
The newsman had been serving a 10-year sentence for the 2011 killing of his wife, Sarah Wambui. fellow journalist.
He was convicted of manslaughter in 2018 after the court found that Wambui died following a domestic altercation at their home in Nairobi.
The former NTV journalist was arrested on May 16, 2011, he was taken to prison where he spent 627 days before his trial started.
During his time in prison, Dola became a GBV advocate and founded Rekebisha Trust to raise awareness among inmates.
