Detectives from Kabete Police Station have begun reviewing the recovered CCTV footage and collecting forensic evidence to help identify the culprits. Preliminary findings suggest the attackers may have had prior knowledge of the school’s layout.

A night raid at Kabete Vet Lab Secondary School has left two security guards dead and property vandalized, prompting detectives to open a full-scale investigation. The incident took place on Friday night, shortly after Form Four students concluded their rehearsal exercise.

CCTV footage shows that a gang of unidentified individuals gained entry into the school compound under darkness, attacked the guards on duty, and then broke into several offices, including the computer lab.

“I received a call at around 1 a.m., and upon arriving at the school, one guard had already succumbed to his injuries while the other died on the way to hospital,” said Evans Owala, the school’s principal.

The attackers vandalized CCTV cameras and made away with around ten laptops, several keyboards, and Safaricom routers. Some of the stolen items were later found discarded along their escape route.

Detectives from Kabete Police Station have begun reviewing the recovered CCTV footage and collecting forensic evidence to help identify the culprits. Preliminary findings suggest the attackers may have had prior knowledge of the school’s layout.

The school administration suspects that a recently suspended Form Four student—who allegedly caused a disturbance during the day’s rehearsal—might have organized the assault with help from other suspended students.

“They took ten laptops and some keyboards, but dropped a few as they fled. They also vandalized all CCTV cameras along the corridors,” Owala said.

Relatives of the victims have demanded justice for their loved ones. “I was shocked when I received the news. We just want justice for those who were killed,” said Dickson Omollo, brother to one of the slain guards, Kenneth Wanjala.

The bodies of the guards have been moved to the Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations. Detectives are following multiple leads and believe the recovered CCTV recordings will be key to tracking down the assailants.
