Officers recovered a “Retay Falcon pistol”, along with “a live 9mm hollow-point round and a spent cartridge of similar calibre”, items which have since been secured as exhibits to support the ongoing investigation.

Detectives have arrested a murder suspect and recovered a firearm and suspected stolen property during a targeted operation in Eastleigh, the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has said.

The operation was carried out by a team of detectives drawn from Dandora and Shaurimoyo, who tracked down the suspect following ongoing investigations into a murder case.

According to the DCI, the suspect was cornered along Gallole Street in Eastleigh.

“The suspect, Peter Kimani alias ‘Kim’, was arrested during the operation,” the sleuths said.

They further confirmed that he was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition at the time of his arrest.

Officers recovered a “Retay Falcon pistol”, along with “a live 9mm hollow-point round and a spent cartridge of similar calibre”, items which have since been secured as exhibits to support the ongoing investigation.

The DCI said the recovery of the weapon was a significant development in efforts to link the suspect to the alleged crime.

In addition to the firearm and ammunition, detectives also impounded a “red Boxer motorcycle, registration KMGT 530S,” which investigators believe was stolen.

Police said the motorcycle is being examined as part of broader inquiries into possible related criminal activity.

The arrest forms part of intensified security and investigative operations aimed at tackling violent crime and the illegal circulation of firearms within Nairobi’s residential estates.

Law enforcement agencies have repeatedly raised concerns over the use of unlicensed weapons in criminal activities, particularly in densely populated urban areas.

Kimani is currently being held in police custody as detectives finalise investigative procedures.

He will be arraigned in court once processing is complete.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to pursuing suspects involved in violent crimes and recovering illegal firearms from the streets.

They also urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing information that could assist ongoing investigations, noting that community support remains critical in enhancing public safety and security.
