Coach McCarthy names 23-man Harambee Stars squad for FIFA series in Rwanda

The squad features a mix of experienced players and emerging talent drawn from both domestic and international clubs as the technical bench continues to shape the national team ahead of upcoming competitive assignments.

Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy has named a 23-man squad for the upcoming FIFA Series tournament scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda between March 23 and March 31 during the March 2026 international window.

The squad features a mix of experienced players and emerging talent drawn from both domestic and international clubs as the technical bench continues to shape the national team ahead of upcoming competitive assignments.

Among the notable selections is Clarke Oduor, who makes his return to the national team after a lengthy absence. Defenders Zak Vyner and Zech Obiero have also been included and will be hoping to earn their first caps for Kenya during the tournament.

The competition will provide valuable match exposure for the Kenyan side as preparations continue for major continental assignments, including the Africa Cup of Nations in 2027, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Kenya has been drawn in a competitive pool alongside the Estonia national football team from Europe, Caribbean side Grenada national football team and regional rivals Rwanda national football team.

The tournament will offer Harambee Stars an opportunity to strengthen team chemistry while exposing players to different football styles from across the globe.

The team is expected to report to residential camp on March 22 before departing for Rwanda two days later ahead of the matches.

Kenya will open its campaign against Estonia on March 27 at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m.

Depending on the outcome of the opening matches, the winners will face off in the final match on March 30 at 9 pm, while the teams that lose their opening fixtures will meet earlier the same day at 6 p.m.

The goalkeeping department includes Byrne Omondi, Brian Bwire and Ian Otieno.

Defenders named in the squad are Frank Odhiambo, Abud Omar, Sylvester Owino, Vyner, Rooney Onyango and Daniel Sakari.

In midfield, McCarthy has selected Alpha Onyango, Duke Abuya, Richard Odada, Chris Erambo and Manzur Suleiman.

The attacking lineup features captain Michael Olunga alongside Austine Odhiambo, William Lenkupae, Job Ochieng, Mohammed Bajaber, Obiero, Oduor, Ryan Ogam and Lawrence Okoth.

The FIFA Series is expected to provide a key platform for Kenya to assess its squad depth and readiness as the national team continues preparations for future international competitions.
