Pamoja Afcon 2027 countries to meet on April 23 over tourney roadmap

Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will meet on Thursday, April 23, to develop a roadmap for the AFCON 2027, which will be jointly hosted by the three countries from June 19 to July 18, 2027.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said in Nairobi that the meeting will bring together ministers to discuss key preparations including visa facilitation, tax exemptions, and other logistical issues ahead of the tournament.

He added that the government is fully committed to ensuring a successful event and that the Africa Cup of Nations will be supported by a clear coordination roadmap involving all host nations.

The CS also welcomed incoming CAF officials, including Acting Secretary General Samson Adamu, and witnessed a leadership transition involving Nicholas Musonye as AFCON 2027 Chair and Antony Lungaho as incoming CEO.

He further commended the CHAN 2025 organizing team, led by Mike Rabar, for what he described as an outstanding tournament that boosted Kenya’s reputation in hosting major sporting events.
