County reshuffle sees top officials swap roles in Wajir

The County Government of Wajir has announced a reshuffle affecting several County Executive Committee Members, with immediate effect, in a move aimed at improving service delivery across key departments.

In a letter dated April 10, 2026, County Secretary and Head of County Public Service Hellow Issack Mumin said the changes were made under Section 31 of the County Governments Act, No. 17 of 2012.

The communication was addressed to all County Executive Committee Members and Chief Officers in Wajir County.

According to the notice, Saadia Ahmed Abdi has been moved from the Health Services docket to take over the Environment, Energy and Climate Change department. In the same changes, Habiba Ali Maalim shifts from Environment, Energy and Climate Change to head Health Services.

Farah Abdi Saman, who has been serving in Roads and Transport, will now take charge of Agriculture, Livestock and Veterinary Services. Meanwhile, Mohamud Abdirahman Abdi moves from Agriculture, Livestock and Veterinary Services to the Education, Social Welfare and Family Affairs department.

Yakub M. Dahiye has also been reassigned, leaving Education, Social Welfare and Family Affairs to head the Roads and Transport docket.

The county government directed that all affected officials complete the handover and takeover process by Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
