UDA grassroots polls in Nakuru postponed to March 28 amid rally clash

Originally set for March 14, the elections were rescheduled to avoid overlapping with the World Rally Championship event, which will be held in Nakuru from March 12 to 15.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has shifted the date of its Repeat Phase III grassroots elections in Nakuru County to Saturday, March 28, 2026, after an earlier schedule conflicted with the Safari Rally Kenya.

The party’s National Elections Board confirmed the postponement in a notice to leaders, members, and candidates on Friday, March 6.

Originally set for March 14, the elections were rescheduled to avoid overlapping with the World Rally Championship event, which will be held in Nakuru from March 12 to 15.

The board said the adjustment would allow both the rally and the party’s internal voting to proceed smoothly without logistical clashes.

"The UDA National Elections Board hereby notifies all UDA Leaders, Members and Candidates that the Repeat Phase III Grassroots Election in Nakuru County, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, 14th March 2026, has been postponed," the notice stated.

The party added that the new timeline should help candidates and members plan their campaigns effectively and avoid inconveniences caused by the rally.

"This adjustment is in consideration of the hosting and participation of the Safari Rally Kenya, part of the World Rally Championship (WRC), scheduled for 12th March to 15th March 2026," the board emphasized.

In addition, all county party officials and aspirants were urged to make arrangements to align with the updated schedule. "Accordingly, the Repeat Phase III Grassroots Election for Nakuru County will now be conducted on Saturday, 28th March 2026. All UDA Leaders, Members and Candidates in Nakuru County are kindly requested to take note of this change and make the necessary arrangements," the notice concluded.
