Rock Star’s wife shot by LAPD in hit-and-run chaos

Jillian Lauren, author and wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot and arrested by Los Angeles police after allegedly pointing a gun at officers during a chaotic search for hit-and-run suspects.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon following a multi-car crash on the 134 Freeway.

According to LAPD, three male suspects fled the crash site on foot, triggering a pursuit into a nearby residential area in Eagle Rock. As officers tried to track down one of the fleeing men, Lauren reportedly emerged from a nearby home with a handgun.

Police claim Lauren ignored repeated commands to drop the weapon.

One officer then fired, striking her in the shoulder.

After being shot, she retreated into her home before later reappearing with her babysitter, both with their hands raised in surrender. Officers arrested the pair without further incident.

Lauren told authorities she believed she was defending her property from the fleeing suspect, who had been acting erratically—at one point undressing, jumping into a resident’s pool, and watering plants in an apparent effort to avoid capture.

Police recovered a 9mm handgun from Lauren’s home and booked her on suspicion of attempted murder.

She was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and later released from custody.

The babysitter, who was detained alongside her, has also been released.

Authorities emphasized that Lauren had no connection to the original crash, which injured another woman who was taken to the hospital.

One of the hit-and-run suspects has been caught, while two others remain at large.

The LAPD’s Force Investigation Division is now reviewing the officer-involved shooting as part of standard procedure.
