Frost Reapers and Nairobi Swifts have taken charge of the second leg of the inaugural Nairobi Pamoja Vijana Netball League, leading the men’s and women’s divisions respectively after the tenth round played at the National Youth Service Engineering Institute (NYSEI) in Nairobi.

Speaking on Sunday after the matches, league founder and coordinator Brian Ogoma told Radio Generation that the initiative was created to offer more competitive opportunities to netball players across Nairobi, many of whom are university students.

“Yes, there is a netball federation, but before we came in, players only participated in tournaments and not a structured league. That meant there were three to four months with no activity at all. That’s why we formed this league in June last year,” said Ogoma, adding that the current season will run until September 2026.

In Sunday’s matches, Black Roses defeated Ashut 42-09.

Ashut later bounced back to beat hosts NYS 31-23, while NYS Ladies thrashed Royal Nets 41-15. Black Roses then suffered a heavy 51-13 defeat to Nairobi Swifts. Court Crystals dominated Royal Nets 65-02, and Net Ninjas secured a 29-21 win over NYS Men.

In the men’s standings, Frost Reapers lead with a perfect record of eight wins from eight matches, collecting 24 points. Net Ninjas are second with 21 points after losing just one of their eight games.

Nairobi Swifts sit third with 16 points, having lost two of their eight matches. Court Crystals are fourth with seven points. NYS Men are sixth with six points, while Black Roses remain without a point after losing all nine of their matches.

In the women’s division, Nairobi Swifts top the table with 30 points, having lost only one of their 11 matches.

Frost Reapers are second with 21 points from nine games, losing twice, and are level on points with third-placed Black Roses, who have played 12 matches and lost five.

Court Crystals are fourth with 18 points from nine games. Lady Tigres are fifth with 15 points after eight matches. NYS are sixth with nine points from 11 games.

Ashut Plastics are seventh with six points from nine matches. Net Girls are eighth with three points from seven games, while Royal Nets are bottom of the table with no points after losing all six of their matches.
