In a notice dated January 22 and issued by the party’s National Elections Board (NEB), UDA invited qualified and interested members to register as participants in the UDA Aspirants’ Forum, a body mandated to guide the party’s nomination process ahead of the next general election.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has opened an online registration portal for party members intending to contest various elective seats in the 2027 General Election, marking the formal start of early preparations for the polls.

In a notice dated January 22 and issued by the party’s National Elections Board (NEB), UDA invited qualified and interested members to register as participants in the UDA Aspirants’ Forum, a body mandated to guide the party’s nomination process ahead of the next general election.

The registration portal, accessible via https://aspirants-forum.uda.ke/, allows aspirants to enrol in the forum, which is tasked with deliberating on and implementing mechanisms for conducting free, fair, and transparent party nominations.

“All qualified and interested party members who wish to contest for various elective seats in the 2027 General Election are hereby invited to register as members of the UDA Aspirants’ Forum,” the NEB Chairman, Anthony Mwaura, said.

UDA has also set non-refundable registration fees ranging from Sh2,000 to Sh10,000, depending on the elective seat being sought.

According to the fee structure, aspirants for the position of Member of County Assembly (MCA) will pay Sh2,000.

Those seeking to contest for Member of the National Assembly, Woman Representative or Senator will each pay Sh5,000, while gubernatorial aspirants will pay Sh10,000.

Mwaura said payments can be made via M-Pesa using Paybill number 888092, with aspirants required to use their national identification number as the account reference.

Alternatively, payments may be made through Equity Bank Account Number 0810280788414 at the Supreme Centre Branch, under the name United Democratic Alliance.

The opening of the portal formally ushers in early jockeying for party positions across the country and signals UDA’s intention to centrally manage its nomination process well ahead of the 2027 elections.

UDA said the Aspirants’ Forum will play a central role in shaping the party’s nomination roadmap, including setting rules of engagement, dispute resolution mechanisms and principles aimed at ensuring credible, transparent and inclusive nominations nationwide.

A high-level meeting of aspirants, to be chaired by President William Ruto at State House, is expected to bring together thousands of hopefuls from across the country.

The forum will serve as the first major formal engagement between the party leadership and members seeking UDA tickets for the 2027 polls.

The choice of State House as the venue underscores the strategic importance the party attaches to the nomination process and reflects efforts to avoid the disputes and litigation that have historically followed party primaries.

Political insiders say the meeting will be used to outline nomination rules, timelines and dispute resolution mechanisms, while discouraging premature campaigns, parallel mobilisation structures and public infighting that could harm the party’s image.

By convening aspirants early, UDA aims to manage internal competition, reinforce party discipline and preserve unity as it positions itself as a stable political vehicle ahead of the 2027 General Election.
