The reappointments, made under Section 26 (1) (e) of the State Corporations Act, will take effect from February 4, 2026, and were communicated through a Gazette Notice dated January 30, 2026.

President William Ruto has extended the tenure of four members of the State Corporations Advisory Committee, allowing them to continue serving in the advisory body for another three years.

The reappointments, made under Section 26 (1) (e) of the State Corporations Act, will take effect from February 4, 2026, and were communicated through a Gazette Notice dated January 30, 2026.

The officials returning to the committee are Ahmed Abdi Rashid, Mary Murangi Mugo, Claire Sifuna Wanyama, and Caroline Cherono Kilisha. They will maintain their roles in guiding government oversight of state corporations for the next three years.

The State Corporations Advisory Committee is a statutory body created to ensure state-owned entities operate effectively. Its main responsibility is to advise the government on the establishment, restructuring, operation, and closure of these public enterprises.

The committee also plays a key role in recommending appointments to boards of state corporations, aiming to enhance governance, professionalism, and accountability across parastatals.

Beyond appointments, the committee provides guidance on terms of service for board members and senior management, helping to standardize practices and strengthen leadership within public institutions.

These reappointments come as the government continues efforts to reform the parastatal sector, which is central to delivering services and implementing national policies. Strong governance structures are critical to ensuring that state corporations function efficiently and remain accountable.

Under the State Corporations Act, the President is empowered to appoint or reappoint committee members, a measure that ensures continuity in advisory functions and smooth implementation of the body’s mandate.

The committee works closely with government ministries and relevant offices to align the operations of state corporations with legal frameworks and public policy priorities.

With the new term now active, the reappointed members are expected to continue supporting reforms, improving performance, and providing oversight to strengthen governance across state corporations.
