In Summary

Huduma Kenya has announced that select Nairobi City County services will be offered at Huduma Centres in Eastleigh, Kibra and Makadara, aiming to ease access and cut travel for residents in dense areas.

Residents of Eastleigh, Kibra and Makadara will soon access select Nairobi County services closer to their neighborhoods after Huduma Kenya confirmed the rollout of county functions in three local centres. The move is expected to make it easier for people in these busy parts of the city to obtain revenue, business, planning, environmental and social services without travelling to central county offices.

In a brief public notice issued on Tuesday, Huduma Kenya announced, “NairobiCityGov services coming to Huduma Centres Eastleigh, Kibra and Makadara. Stay tuned!”

The message points to closer cooperation between Huduma Kenya and Nairobi City County aimed at bringing services nearer to communities. It follows earlier efforts to decentralise county operations during the tenure of Nairobi Metropolitan Services.

The announcement was shared alongside promotional artwork displaying the Republic of Kenya coat of arms, the Huduma Kenya logo and the Nairobi City County emblem. The material carried the phrases “Kanjo Wanakam Huduma” and “Huduma Centre ya Eastleigh, Kibra na Makadara.”

The wording “Kanjo Wanakam Huduma” signals that county government services, often referred to informally as Kanjo services, will now be offered within Huduma Centres in the three areas.

Huduma Kenya operates as a one stop public service programme that brings together government services under one roof, saving citizens from moving between different offices. Over the years, Huduma Centres have handled services such as identification processing, licensing and other administrative tasks.

Adding Nairobi City County functions to selected centres is likely to widen the range of services available to residents. For many people living in Eastleigh, Kibra and Makadara, this could mean shorter trips, reduced queues and faster assistance.

The three areas are among the most populated in Nairobi. Shifting some county services to Huduma Centres there may also help ease pressure on city offices that often experience congestion.

The branding on the promotional material highlights joint effort between national and county structures. The presence of the Republic of Kenya insignia alongside the Huduma Kenya and Nairobi City County logos reflects a coordinated approach to public service delivery.

The development has drawn attention from residents eager to see how the changes will unfold. However, officials have not yet provided a clear start date or detailed list of departments that will be included in the first phase.

The upbeat tone of the message, opening with “Great news!” shows optimism about the plan. By urging residents to “Stay tuned!”, Huduma Kenya indicated that more details will be shared once final arrangements are complete.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen devolved governance and make services more accessible. Bringing county operations closer to local communities is seen as a step toward improving efficiency and convenience for Nairobi residents.
