Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has opened the hunt for a new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO), calling on leaders with vision and experience to guide the organization in achieving its goals.

The announcement, published on My Gov Kenya on February 24, 2026, seeks candidates with a proven track record in senior management and strategic leadership.

The MD/CEO will report to the Chairperson of the Board of Directors and serve as the Accounting Officer, responsible for managing daily operations, leading strategic initiatives, driving revenue, engaging stakeholders, managing risk, and promoting efficiency across the Authority.

“The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer is responsible to the Board for day-to-day management and co-ordination of activities in the Authority; defining and executing strategy, generating revenue, engaging customers and stakeholders, managing risk and ensuring compliance, driving performance and growing talent,” the advertisement stated.

The position is offered on a three-year contract, renewable once. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Finance, Economics, Business Management, Marketing, Statistics, Engineering, or Social Sciences, and a Master’s degree from a recognized institution.

Candidates are expected to have at least ten years of work experience, including five years in senior management roles. They should have hands-on experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, managing substantial budgets, and ensuring positive financial outcomes. Certification in aviation is an added advantage.

The KAA emphasized that the ideal leader will also possess strong people management and influencing skills, strategic thinking, commercial awareness, decisiveness, adaptability, and the ability to drive change.

“Strong people management and influencing skills with the ability to build relationships; strategic thinker with good commercial acumen and the ability to identify economic opportunities in a changing environment and capitalize on them,” the statement added.

Experience in organization design, policy formulation and implementation, and exceptional communication and leadership skills are also required.

Applicants must submit a detailed CV, copies of academic and professional certificates, a copy of the National ID, current and expected salary, and contacts of three referees. Shortlisted candidates will need clearance certificates from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Higher Education Loans Board, Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics & Anti-Corruption Authority, and an approved Credit Reference Bureau, in line with Chapter Six of the Constitution.
