President William Ruto on Saturday challenged the united opposition to present a clear plan for the country ahead of the 2027 elections, saying Kenyans deserve to know what alternative vision they intend to offer.

Speaking at the Kisii Primary School grounds during a service hosted by the Gospel Embassy Church, Ruto questioned the opposition’s capacity to lead, urging them to demonstrate the “intelligence” they claim to possess.

"I saw some friends complaining that citizens say that they are not intelligent. Let me ask them, now let's say you are intelligent, why don't you show us your intelligence," Ruto said.

Ruto went after his critics for what he termed a lack of faith in Kenya, noting that some had openly described the country as a failed state. He told them that it was wrong to seek leadership positions while doubting the nation’s potential.

He reaffirmed his goal of pushing Kenya towards first-world status, insisting that his administration is committed to sustaining the country’s development path.

In Kisii, Ruto highlighted ongoing and upcoming projects, assuring residents of continued investment in the region. He confirmed that the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension from Naivasha to Malaba, which is set to pass through Kisii, will break ground in January 2026.

The President further committed to expanding electrification in the county, saying the government will continue rolling out power connections across various areas.
