In Summary

The gala is organised by Dr Neemo Yussuf, a counselling psychologist and founder of Safe Haven Consultancy.

Garissa will host the Nafis Night Sisterhood Gala on 14 December 2025. The event will bring together women leaders, mental health advocates, and community voices for an evening of dialogue and inspiration.

The gala is organised by Dr Neemo Yussuf, a counselling psychologist and founder of Safe Haven Consultancy.

She says the event celebrates and uplifts women through sisterhood, culture, healing, and empowerment.

Dr Yussuf’s vision is to build a movement where women feel seen, heard, and supported long after the night ends.

This year’s theme is “Mental Health and Women Empowerment.” The gala will run from 6 pm to 8 pm at a local resort.

It will encourage open conversations on emotional well-being, resilience, and the challenges women face.

Attendees will enjoy a warm, sisterhood-centred atmosphere. The programme includes networking circles, storytelling moments, inspirational talks, and interactive sessions.

All activities will take place in a judgment-free space.

By blending mental health conversations with Somali culture, the gala seeks to normalise healing in ways that are relatable and empowering.

The chief guest will be legislator Umulkheir Harun. She will be joined by Fatuma Ali (Queendom) and Dr Fatuma Daqane from Garissa County Referral Hospital.

Speakers will highlight mental health, leadership, and the importance of supportive networks. They will offer practical advice on coping with daily pressures while protecting emotional well-being.

Organisers say the gala will provide a safe and inspiring space for women.

Attendees can expect honest conversations, motivating stories, and opportunities to connect with others facing similar experiences.

Dr Yussuf emphasises the gala’s long-term impact. Many women continue to carry emotional and social burdens in silence.

Nafis Night aims to change that. It provides representation, mentorship, and a space to address difficult topics openly.

The event will focus on three key themes: women in leadership and community development, empowerment through identity and culture, and emotional wellness.

These themes aim to inspire confidence, strengthen cultural pride, and encourage women to care for their mental health.

Dr. Yussuf believes that when women feel supported, society as a whole grows stronger.

“The Nafis Night Sisterhood Gala is set to become a key platform for women-led empowerment and mental health awareness in the region,” she said.
