The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has moved to clarify that any statements or actions associated with businessman and political figure Oketch Salah are strictly personal and do not reflect the party’s position.
In a statement issued by ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga, the party said it was necessary to make its stance clear following public attention around activities linked to Salah that had been wrongly associated with ODM.
"The Orange Democratic Movement wishes to clarify that any activities, statements, or engagements undertaken by Oketch Salah are carried out strictly in his personal capacity and do not represent or bind the Orange Democratic Movement in any way," the statement read.
ODM stressed that all official party engagements, programmes, and decisions must be approved through the party secretariat and guided by party leadership, headed by Oburu Odinga. Any action taken in the party’s name outside these structures is unauthorised.
"Grassroots leaders, members, and supporters are therefore advised that no activities should be organised or conducted in the name of ODM without prior consultation and approval from the party leadership and the secretariat," the statement added.
The party said it remains committed to discipline, order, and structured engagement as it pursues its political goals.
Oketch Salah has recently attracted attention within political circles due to his outspoken remarks on matters concerning ODM.
His statements drew further scrutiny when he claimed to have held private conversations with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, including assertions about Raila’s views on internal party affairs and the party’s future direction.
These claims were challenged by senior ODM officials and members of the Odinga family.
