Kenyans have raised alarm after a Russian TikTok influencer was seen filming local women in public and sharing the clips online.
The videos, which spread widely on Friday, February 13, show Yaytseslav Trahov approaching women at supermarkets and malls, striking up conversations, and exchanging phone numbers.
Following their initial meetings, Trahov invited some of the women to his short-term apartment, where he continued recording.
Although the footage does not show any sexual activity, many viewers expressed unease, saying the situation could pose potential risks.
The incident has reignited discussions on how foreign visitors interact with Kenyan women.
Some people questioned the judgment of the women who accepted his invitations, especially in a country concerned about rising cases of violence against women.
Others took a more neutral view, suggesting the influencer’s intentions may have been harmless.
“He probably just needs company. I would not mind if he invited me next, though, he does not seem that bad to me,” a user named Zoe commented online.
Research by online users indicates that Trahov, whose real name is Vyacheslav Trahov, has carried out similar activities with women in Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ghana.
