Court Allows Ex Central Police OCS Samson Talaam to Seek Treatment at KNH

During the session, his lawyer Stanley Kangahi told the court that Talaam had been unwell in recent weeks and needed to undergo medical examination and tests at the national referral hospital.

A court has allowed former Central Police Station Officer Commanding Station Samson Talaam, who is facing a murder charge, to receive specialised medical care at Kenyatta National Hospital after concerns were raised about his health.

The decision was made during court proceedings on Tuesday after Talaam’s legal team informed the court that he had developed complications linked to an earlier kidney condition and required urgent medical attention from specialists.

During the session, his lawyer Stanley Kangahi told the court that Talaam had been unwell in recent weeks and needed to undergo medical examination and tests at the national referral hospital.

According to the defence, the former police officer’s health had deteriorated, making it necessary for doctors to review his condition and determine the appropriate treatment.

The prosecution did not oppose the request made by the defence for Talaam to seek treatment outside the detention facility.

Following the request, the court allowed the application and directed that Talaam be escorted to Kenyatta National Hospital to consult a specialist. The court further ordered that a medical report be prepared and presented after the examination is completed.

The case is expected to return to court on March 17 for mention as the legal process continues.

During the mention, the court is also expected to receive updates on whether investigators have obtained CCTV footage believed to be connected to the case.

Talaam is facing the murder charge alongside other accused persons as the case proceeds through the court system.
