UDA sets March 28 for nominations in Emurua Dikirr, two ward seats

UDA has announced nomination dates, fees and portal registration rules for aspirants in the Emurua Dikirr MP race and Porro and Endo ward by-elections, ahead of IEBC polls set for May 14, 2026.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has set Saturday, March 28, 2026, as the date for party nominations to fill several vacant elective positions, including the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat in Narok County and two County Assembly seats in Porro Ward and Endo Ward.

In a notice released on Tuesday, the party outlined the nomination process and timelines, directing all interested aspirants to register through its online portal between March 17 and March 20, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. The party stressed that registration will only be complete once candidates have both signed up on the portal and paid the required nomination fees.

“All aspirants MUST first register on the UDA Portal. Registration is only considered complete after both registration and payment are successfully done through the portal,” the party stated.

Once registration is done, the system automatically prompts aspirants to pay the nomination fees either through MPESA STK Push or directly via Equity Bank, a step that confirms eligibility to contest in the primaries.

The party also released a detailed fee structure based on position and category. Aspirants for the Member of County Assembly seats will pay Sh25,000 across all categories, including male, female, youth, and persons with disabilities. For the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat, female, youth, and persons with disabilities will pay Sh125,000, while male candidates will be required to pay Sh250,000.

UDA clarified that all payments are non-refundable and can be made through MPESA Paybill number 888092 using the aspirant’s ID number or deposited directly into the party’s account at Equity Bank, Supreme Center branch.

UDA National Elections Board Chairman M. Anthony Mwaura called on aspirants to strictly follow the outlined procedures, noting that adherence to both registration and payment requirements is key to securing clearance for the nominations.

The announcement comes after the electoral body scheduled by-elections for the affected areas following earlier declarations of vacancies. In a special gazette notice issued on March 13, the commission said: “Following the declaration of vacancies… there shall be by-elections in the above-listed electoral areas on Thursday, the 14th May, 2026.”

Political parties have been instructed to submit the names of their candidates by March 25, 2026, while independent candidates are required to present their names and symbols within the same timeline.

Official nominations by the electoral body are set for April 15 and 16, 2026, after which campaigns will run from April 15 until May 11, ending 48 hours before the polling day.

The Emurua Dikirr seat fell vacant after the death of area MP Johanna Ng’eno in a plane crash in Mosop, Nandi County, on February 28, 2026. The Porro and Endo Ward positions became vacant earlier, on January 5 and January 27, 2026, respectively.
