The federation branch's Competitions Secretary, Maurice Maina, told Radio Generation that the winners will join those who won the national Novice in early February in Thika, Kiambu County, for the Kenya Open next week, February 26–28, 2026.

Kibra Olympics Boxing Club emerged as the overall winner with 15 points during the just-concluded Nairobi Intermediaries Boxing Championships at Pumwani Social Hall, dubbed Pal Pal Gym.

Speaking on Sunday after the event in Nairobi, the federation branch's Competitions Secretary, Maurice Maina, told Radio Generation that the winners will join those who won the national Novice in early February in Thika, Kiambu County, for the Kenya Open next week, February 26–28, 2026.

"We had an amazing three-day event. Fifteen clubs with 77 boxers overall have shown us what they have. I have to say that clubs are coming on well. With a little financial support, we are going to see the rise of very talented boxers because there is massive potential at the grassroots," said Maina.

Kibra Youth Boxing Club came in second with 10 points, while third-place honors went to Jericho Lumumba Boxing Club, which finished the event with nine points.

The boxers who won this event and will be invited to the Thika showdown next week are Stephen Alikiba of Kibra Youth in the minimum weight category.

Others are flyweight Paul Njoroge from Thailand Boxing Club, Kayole Wings' Griffins Obuya in the bantamweight, Ezra Nelly from Thailand in the featherweight, Kibra Olympics' Kadelah Steve in the lightweight, and Eugene Omondi, who won the light welterweight representing Kibra Youth.

The others were Wilberforce Akunza, who won the welterweight for Kasarani Youth, while the light middleweight category belonged to Kariobangi's Gaddafi Prince, as Jeremy Okley of Jericho Lumumba dominated the middleweight category.

Kasarani Youth's Dennis Faret won the light heavyweight, an event that motivated his friend David Ambao of Kahawa to also win the cruiserweight, but the event of the day, the showstopper, went to Anwar Sadat of Kibra Olympics, who won a toughly contested heavyweight bout.

The event didn't see a huge turnout for the ladies' events, as they were few and only contested for the top prizes over two days.

Doreen Kitui of Githurai 44 won the featherweight, while Rahab Mumbi of St Theresa won the light welterweight category.
