In Summary

Speaking to Radio Generation on Wednesday evening from her training camp at the Elite Combat Training Center in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Mugo said she still has some technical work to do but is pleased that her efforts have caught the attention of the management team and earned her an opponent.

Kenyan Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Felista Mugo has been confirmed to open her 2026 season against Ugandan Annet Kiiza in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) Africa, Strawweight division, Season Two, on April 10, 2026, at the SunBet Arena, Time Square, Menlyn Maine, Pretoria, South Africa.

"Yeah, I was told it’s in April, but I didn’t know the opponent yet. It depends on how you are training, your fitness, and your weight category — that determines your opponent," Mugo said over the phone.

"I have been here since February, training three times a day, and I’ve been placed on a special diet because I was initially 60 kg and had to cut weight to make 52 kg," added the determined Mugo.

The 26-year-old Mugo is 5-2-1, meaning she has won five, lost two, and tied one match since making her professional debut in June 2024. She is currently ranked 20th among MMA fighters in the Middle East and Africa region.

Her opponent, 25-year-old Ugandan Annet Kiiza, is 3-1-0 and ranked 24th in the same region. Kiiza trains at the same Lubumbashi camp, which also houses fighters from the DRC, Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, and Senegal.

In her last fight in December 2025 at ANZA MMA Fight Nights 5 in Nairobi, Kiiza delivered an upset when she stopped local fighter Rael Ashubwe (1–2) with devastating punches at the 2:30 mark of the second round — a performance Mugo’s corner will surely take note of.

PFL Africa has confirmed that Kiiza and Mugo will curtain-raise a jam-packed fight card.

The main event features the return of the inaugural PFL Africa 2025 Bantamweight Tournament winner Nkosi Ndebele (11–3), against Italy’s Michele Clemente (7–1), an Oktagon MMA standout currently on a five-fight winning streak entering his first PFL Africa event.
