In a statement issued on November 10, Interim Party Leader Senator Oburu Oginga said the celebrations will take place in Mombasa County from November 14 to 16, 2025.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced a series of events to commemorate its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of political struggle and service to the Kenyan people.

In a statement issued on November 10, Interim Party Leader Senator Oburu Oginga said the celebrations will take place in Mombasa County from November 14 to 16, 2025.

The events will honour the legacy of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, who he described as “the Father of Modern Democracy in Kenya.”

“This week, the Orange Democratic Movement marks 20 years of committed struggle, sacrifice and service to the Kenyan people,” Oginga said.

“We commemorate this landmark in honour of the indelible legacy of our departed Party Leader Raila Amolo Odinga, whose vision, courage and sacrifice built this movement.”

The commemoration will begin with a special sitting of the National Governing Council (NGC) on Thursday, November 13, to reflect on ODM’s journey, consolidate its organisational strength, and reaffirm its path into the future.

According to the schedule, Friday, November 14, will feature an ODM Disability League breakfast, followed by simultaneous summits for the Women’s and Youth Leagues from 10 am to 1 pm. The day will conclude with a youth concert running from 6 pm to midnight.

On Saturday, November 15, party members and supporters will gather at Mama Ngina Waterfront for the “Celebration of Baba’s Vision, Achievements and Legacy.”

The event will reaffirm ODM’s commitment to defending Kenya’s democratic gains earned through two decades of struggle.

A Founders’ Dinner will be held in the evening at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort, bringing together the movement’s pioneers and leaders.

The three-day commemoration will conclude on Sunday, November 16, with an inter-religious thanksgiving service in memory of Raila Odinga’s life, leadership, and contribution to Kenya’s democratic transformation.

Oginga invited party members, supporters, and Kenyans across the country to join in the ODM@20 celebrations, describing the milestone as a moment of both gratitude and renewal.

“ODM@20 is not merely a marker in time — it is a renewal of our oath: to defend democracy, protect hard-won freedoms, and continue the fight for equality, social justice, and a Kenya for all,” he said.

“Together, we shall secure the legacy. Together we shall secure the future.”
