The ruling party said the extension is intended to give all eligible members and candidates adequate time to complete the registration process.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has extended the registration deadline for Phase III of its grassroots elections to Monday, January 5, 2026, citing high turnout and strong interest from members nationwide.

In a notice issued on Saturday, the ruling party said the extension is intended to give all eligible members and candidates adequate time to complete the registration process.

According to the notice dated January 3, 2026, UDA said the decision was reached after receiving an overwhelming response from party members across the country.

“This extension has been granted due to the high volume of registrations and the strong interest shown by members across the country, in order to allow all eligible participants adequate time to complete the registration process,” the statement read.

The party said the extension applies specifically to members and candidates taking part in Phase III of the grassroots elections, which are a key component of UDA’s internal party democracy and leadership structure at the local level.

To address challenges encountered during the registration exercise, the party announced the establishment of county-based support teams to assist participants experiencing difficulties.

“Following this extension, the Party Secretariat has established County-Based Support Teams to assist members and candidates who may be experiencing challenges during registration,” the notice stated.

UDA urged participants to reach out to designated support persons in their respective counties for assistance, noting that the Secretariat will work closely with the teams to ensure a smooth process.

“Participants are advised to contact the designated support persons for their respective counties as listed below. The Secretariat will work closely with these teams to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process,” the party said.

The notice listed support contacts in several counties, including Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nakuru, Murang’a, Kiambu, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Laikipia, Samburu, and Nyandarua. Each county was assigned specific officials to guide members and candidates through the registration process and help resolve technical or logistical challenges.

The notice was signed by Anthony Mwaura, the Chairman of the National Elections Board (NEB), named as the responsible official overseeing the process.

UDA reiterated its commitment to transparency and inclusivity, urging members to take advantage of the extended deadline before the exercise closes at 4 pm on January 5, 2026.
