The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will on Monday, March 30, 2026, roll out a 30-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise aimed at increasing the number of registered voters across the country.
In a notice, the electoral agency said the nationwide exercise will run daily until Tuesday, April 28, 2026, covering all days of the week, including weekends, in an effort to maximise access for eligible Kenyans.
“This Monday (30th March, 2026) IEBC is launching Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR),” the commission announced, adding that the exercise will take place “for 30 days daily up to Tuesday 28th April 2026 (Monday to Sunday).”
The commission outlined multiple registration points designed to bring services closer to citizens.
These include County Assembly Wards, where registration will be conducted on a rotational basis guided by kit movement schedules.
The IEBC said this approach is intended to ensure wider geographical coverage, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
In addition, registration will be carried out in universities and colleges located within respective constituencies, targeting students and young voters who form a significant portion of unregistered eligible citizens.
Other designated registration centres include Huduma Centres across the country, IEBC constituency offices, and the IEBC Customer Experience Centre located at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.
“Voter Registration during ECVR will take place in County Assembly Wards on a rotational basis… universities and colleges… Huduma Centres… IEBC Customer Experience Center - Anniversary Towers, Nairobi… and IEBC constituency offices,” the commission stated.
The IEBC emphasised that the enhanced exercise is part of its broader mandate to ensure all eligible voters are registered and able to participate in upcoming electoral processes.
The move is also expected to address gaps identified in previous registration drives, particularly among youth and first-time voters.
However, the commission clarified that the exercise will not be conducted in certain areas currently engaged in electoral processes.
“ECVR shall not be undertaken in electoral areas with scheduled by-elections or ongoing election petitions,” the notice read.
The exclusion, according to the commission, is meant to avoid interference with active electoral timelines and ensure compliance with legal and procedural requirements governing elections.
The announcement comes amid renewed focus on electoral preparedness and voter inclusion, with stakeholders urging the commission to leverage such exercises to enhance the credibility and inclusivity of Kenya’s electoral system.
Eligible citizens are encouraged to take advantage of the 30-day window to register as voters or update their registration details where necessary.
The IEBC has previously reiterated the importance of continuous voter registration in strengthening democratic participation and ensuring that electoral outcomes reflect the will of the people.
