In Siaya County, two men were arrested after members of the public intercepted them while allegedly attempting to dispose of a body along the Busia–Kisumu Highway near the Savanah area in Ugunja Sub-County. The suspects were assaulted by a mob before police intervened and rescued them.

The two, identified as Joseph Omondi (43) and Calisto Oyugi (38), were treated at Ambira Level 4 Hospital and later discharged.

They remain in custody as investigations continue.

The body of an unidentified man, believed to be about 45 years old and bearing a visible head injury, was moved to the same facility’s mortuary pending identification and postmortem.

A white Toyota Vitz, registration number KCB 949N, suspected to have been used in the incident, was also recovered and detained as an exhibit.

In a separate case in Bungoma County, detectives in Bungoma West arrested a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) serviceman in connection with the killing of 45-year-old Wycliff Masasabi Wanambuko at a social joint in Wamono Centre.

The suspect, Corporal Moses Wamema Kirui of Lanet Barracks, was arrested on April 4, 2026 and remains in custody.

A blood-stained blue T-shirt believed to be linked to the incident was recovered, while the victim’s body was taken to Bungoma County Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.

Authorities have urged the public to refrain from mob justice and instead report suspected crimes to the nearest police station or through anonymous reporting channels.
