SHA highlighted that deductions must be submitted by the ninth day of the month following salary payments. Any delay in remittance could prevent employees from accessing healthcare under the scheme.

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has reminded employees nationwide to make sure that their health insurance contributions are being properly processed and reflected in their accounts.

In a notice issued on Thursday, March 12, the Authority stressed that employers have a legal duty to deduct and remit contributions on time so that workers can continue receiving medical services without interruptions.

SHA highlighted that deductions must be submitted by the ninth day of the month following salary payments. Any delay in remittance could prevent employees from accessing healthcare under the scheme.

"SHA reminds all employers of their legal obligation to deduct and remit employee contributions on or before the 9th day of the following month to ensure continued access to services," the Authority directed.

Workers were encouraged to actively monitor their contributions and verify that amounts deducted from their salaries have been received by SHA.

"Employees are also encouraged to regularly check their SHA status and confirm that deductions made by their employer have been received and reflected in their statement," the notice added.

To check contribution records, employees can log into the Afyayangu portal, use the Afyayangu mobile application, or dial *147# from their phones. SHA also provided an official email for queries and clarification on membership or payment issues.

The Authority further urged employees to report any discrepancies immediately if contributions are missing, not updated, or have not been remitted. Complaints submitted through the SHA customer service email allow the Authority to follow up directly with employers and resolve the issues.

SHA CEO Mercy Mwangangi has repeatedly emphasized the importance of timely remittances to guarantee that all employees maintain uninterrupted access to healthcare services.
