The National Police Service (NPS) has announced adjustments to its upcoming nationwide recruitment of police constables, including the addition of a new centre in Nairobi and changes to a few venues in Kajiado and Narok counties.
The recruitment exercise is scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2025, and will take place simultaneously in all 47 counties. The NPS says the drive aims to strengthen its ranks with well-qualified and disciplined officers.
In a statement signed by Inspector General Douglas Kanja Kirocho, the service said the updates are designed to make the process more accessible and fair, particularly for former members of the National Youth Service (NYS).
“One of the key updates is the inclusion of the NYS Headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi, as a recruitment centre for ex-NYS candidates,” the statement said.
This change now allows former NYS members to either report to their home sub-county centres or attend the Ruaraka headquarters, which had been “inadvertently omitted” from the previous notice. The Inspector General emphasized that the correction is part of ongoing efforts to give all eligible Kenyans a fair chance to participate.
In Kajiado County, the recruitment centre for Elangata Wuas Sub-County has been moved from Ole Polos to the Elangata Wuas DCC’s Office. In Narok County, the Narok West Sub-County venue has been updated to Ng’osuani Centre.
“All other information contained in the earlier advertisement remains unchanged,” Kirocho clarified.
The recruitment drive was initially advertised on October 31, 2025, in major newspapers and targets motivated, service-oriented Kenyans willing to serve as police constables. The NPS says the exercise will run across 422 centres nationwide, with applicants expected to report by 8:00 a.m. Senior police officers and representatives from government agencies will supervise the process to ensure transparency.
“The recruitment process will be free and open to all qualified Kenyans who meet the minimum entry requirements,” the notice stated.
The service has also warned the public to be cautious of individuals posing as brokers or claiming they can influence the recruitment process. Anyone found engaging in such fraud will face legal action.
