Junet's remarks came amid growing public discussion about unity within the party, following comments by East African Legislative Assembly Member Winnie Odinga, who on Sunday called for calm and dialogue among ODM members.

Suna East MP and Minority leader at the National Assembly Junet Mohammed has rejected claims that the Orange Democratic Movement Party is breaking apart, saying the party remains intact, united, and firmly anchored under the leadership of Oburu Oginga.

In a post shared on X, Junet dismissed talk of divisions within the party, stating that ODM continues to operate as one strong political outfit with fully functioning party organs. He said the claims of collapse were misleading and did not reflect the reality within the party.

“There’s only one indivisible ODM Party led by Party Leader Hon. Dr. Oburu Odinga,” Junet said, adding that the party’s systems remain solid and well organized.

He explained that ODM encourages open discussion among its members and allows space for differing views on various matters affecting the party and the country. According to Junet, members are free to express their opinions and try to convince others through debate.

The ODM Party, he said, “allows robust internal debate on a wide range of issues, with each member allowed to hold and air their opinions, and persuade other members to adopt their positions.”

However, Junet noted that once official party organs agree on a position, all members are expected to respect and support that decision.

“Once the relevant party organs have settled on a position, the expectation of the party base is that we all fall in line. This is what loyalty, fidelity and faithfulness mean,” he stated.

Junet also took issue with a Peoples Daily story published on January 20, 2026, which focused on who would benefit or lose from a possible ODM implosion. He said the report was based on false assumptions and did not reflect the situation within the party.

“There is no implosion and there will be none,” Junet said, insisting that ODM is focused and ready as it looks ahead to the 2027 elections.

His remarks came amid growing public discussion about unity within the party, following comments by East African Legislative Assembly Member Winnie Odinga, who on Sunday called for calm and dialogue among ODM members.

Winnie spoke a day after Party leader Oburu Oginga addressed claims that some members were being pushed out of the party. Addressing a rally in Kibira’s Kamkunji area, Winnie appeared to differ with suggestions that members unhappy with party decisions should leave.

She stressed that ODM belongs to the people and that no one should be forced out.

"Nobody will be removed from the party. They talk too much, and when we ask questions, they tell us to leave. But if we leave, who will they remain with? This is a people's party, and when we leave, we leave with the people," Winnie declared.

The legislator, who is the youngest daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, also warned against attempts to replace or imitate her father, saying his position in the party and the country could not be filled by anyone else.

She urged ODM leaders to choose dialogue over confrontation, arguing that open talks were the only way to address internal concerns and protect the future of the party.

Winnie further accused the top leadership of pulling in different directions, a situation she said was confusing ordinary supporters. She called for the National Delegates Committee to be convened so that issues could be discussed openly and resolved.

"Raila left us just a while ago. Relax, why are you in a hurry? Let us talk first, come to an agreement, and move forward together. As a family, we do not belong to any faction. We remain Team Raila," she added.
