The TechCo will deploy multiple Connectivity on Wheels (COWs), to strengthen network coverage and boost internet capacity across rally zones. The company will also optimize its 5G network in key locations to support high-speed data demands, including global livestreaming and digital content distribution.

Telcom firm, Safaricom, will support the 2026 WRC Safari Rally as the official technology and connectivity partner, providing high-speed network connectivity and advanced IoT solutions to support one of the country's most high-profile global sporting events.

The TechCo will deploy multiple Connectivity on Wheels (COWs), to strengthen network coverage and boost internet capacity across rally zones. The company will also optimize its 5G network in key locations to support high-speed data demands, including global livestreaming and digital content distribution.

In recognition of the global spotlight on the Safari Rally, Safaricom will establish fully equipped media centres fitted with high-speed 5G Wi-Fi to support both local and international journalists. Select media practitioners will also receive bulk mobile data packages to facilitate uninterrupted reporting from rally stages and remote locations outside designated media hubs.

"The 2026 edition of the WRC Safari Rally Kenya is expected to draw thousands of local and international fans to Naivasha and surrounding counties, with millions more following the action worldwide. Delivering seamless connectivity across rugged terrain remains critical to ensuring real-time broadcasting, safety coordination, and digital fan engagement," said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.

Beyond connectivity, Safaricom will deploy IoT-enabled telematics solutions across the rally's safety caravan fleet, including ambulances and rapid response units.

The smart vehicle monitoring systems will transmit real-time data, automated alerts, and instant incident notifications to command centres, enabling faster and more coordinated emergency response.

"By transforming rescue vehicles into connected smart assets, we are enhancing visibility, improving response times, and strengthening overall safety management across expansive rally routes," Ndegwa added.

To extend the experience beyond Naivasha, Safaricom will also introduce rally-themed data bundles to enable rally fans across the country, to still have a full rally experience, from wherever they are, by livestreaming, tracking and engaging with the event right on their mobile phones.

The Safari Rally remains one of Africa's most iconic sporting events and a key fixture in the global motorsport calendar and will run from March 12-15, 2026.
