Independent candidate Erick Wekesa has emerged victorious in the Chwele/Kabuchai ward by-election, securing a clear mandate from voters.

The result was officially announced by returning officer Henry Katila, who confirmed that Wekesa garnered 6,162 votes to claim the seat.

Wekesa’s closest contender, Vincent Wekesa Maunda of the Ford Kenya party, received 2,765 votes, falling short of the winning tally.

The by-election attracted several other candidates, including Kizito Matumbai, who obtained 75 votes; Samuel Barasa with 69 votes; Phanice Kutwa at 52 votes; Evans Barasa with 41 votes; Dan Simiyu who received 29 votes; Elizabeth Situma at 17 votes; and Margaret Nabwala, who got 4 votes.
