In Summary

In a port position update dated December 16, 2025, KPA said the vessels scheduled to call at Mombasa include 29 container ships, 15 conventional cargo vessels, eight car carriers, and one oil tanker.

The Port of Mombasa is set for heightened activity over the next two weeks, with a total of 53 vessels expected to dock as cargo volumes rise during the festive season, according to the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

In a port position update dated December 16, 2025, KPA said the vessels scheduled to call at Mombasa include 29 container ships, 15 conventional cargo vessels, eight car carriers, and one oil tanker.

The increased traffic underscores the port’s role as a critical gateway for regional and international trade during peak periods.

“The Port of Mombasa will, in the next 14 days, handle a total of 53 vessels, with 29 accounting for container ships,” the statement said.

It added that the port will also receive “15 conventional cargo vessels, eight car carriers and one oil tanker” within the same period.

Several major container vessels are expected at the port, including MSC Juanita F, MSC General IV, CMA CGM Vil Da Conde, Express Kailas, MSC Stella, Maersk Cairo, and CMA CGM Fort St George, reflecting sustained demand for containerised cargo. The schedule also features vessels carrying bulk commodities such as wheat, sorghum, fertiliser, coal, vegetable oil, and steel products.

Among the notable arrivals are bulk carriers Scarabe with coal, Super Nova and Amilla with wheat, Liberty Glary carrying sorghum, and African Tiger and LMZ Titan transporting fertiliser. Steel products and equipment will also be delivered by vessels, including Lowland Corso and FLC Fortune.

Vehicle imports are equally prominent in the lineup, with car carriers such as Hoegh Australis, Tanabata, Orient Dynasty, Dream Diamond, Hyperion Leader, Gracious Ace, and Torrens scheduled to dock at various dates throughout the period.

These arrivals are expected to support the automotive trade and meet growing demand during the holiday season.

Meanwhile, the Port of Lamu is also expected to record activity, handling five vessels during the same 14-day window.

These include container ships and general cargo vessels such as MV Noore Mustafa, CMA CGM Puccini, CMA CGM Saigon, MV Myny, and CMA CGM Da Dang.

“The Port of Lamu will also handle five vessels during this period,” the statement noted, highlighting the growing operational role of the relatively new port alongside Mombasa.

The surge in vessel calls comes as importers and exporters move to replenish stocks ahead of the end-of-year holidays, with port operations expected to remain busy through late December. KPA’s update signals continued momentum in maritime trade, even as logistics players prepare for increased turnaround demands and cargo handling activity at both ports.
