In an earlier update, KAA revealed that all 50 passengers and crew aboard an aircraft that veered off Taxiway Echo at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday, December 29, 2025, were safe and accounted for.

Operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) are running normally after Taxiway Echo was reopened following an aircraft incident, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has said.

In a statement issued on December 30, 2025, KAA confirmed that the aircraft involved in the incident had been safely recovered and that the affected taxiway was cleared and reopened to traffic.

“Following our earlier statement regarding the aircraft incident at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) wishes to provide the following update,” the authority said.

According to KAA, the incident involved an aircraft that veered off Taxiway Echo. However, swift recovery efforts ensured minimal disruption to airport operations.

“The aircraft that veered off Taxiway Echo has been safely recovered,” the authority said, adding that “the taxiway has since been reopened, and airport operations remain normal.”

The authority did not provide further details on the aircraft involved or the cause of the incident, but emphasized that safety protocols were effectively implemented to restore normal operations within a short time.

KAA thanked airport stakeholders, including airlines and passengers, for their cooperation during the recovery process.

“We thank all stakeholders for their cooperation and reaffirm our commitment to safety, security, and efficiency,” the statement said.

The prompt reopening of Taxiway Echo is expected to ease movement of aircraft on the ground and prevent delays, especially during the busy end-of-year travel period.

In an earlier update, KAA revealed that all 50 passengers and crew aboard an aircraft that veered off Taxiway Echo at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday, December 29, 2025, were safe and accounted for.

The authority said the incident occurred on Monday afternoon shortly after the aircraft landed at JKIA, Nairobi, from Elwak Airstrip in Mandera.

It added that airport emergency response teams were activated in line with established procedures.

The Authority said it is working with relevant agencies to ensure the safe removal of the aircraft.

“All passengers and crew were safely accounted for,” said KAA Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamud Gedi.

JKIA is the country’s main international gateway and one of the busiest airports in the region, handling thousands of passengers and significant cargo traffic daily.

Any disruption at the airport often attracts close attention due to its importance to regional connectivity and trade.
