Duale stressed that national conversations should be anchored on policies that improve lives rather than political attacks.

A call to tone down political hostilities and focus on real issues facing citizens took centre stage as Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale addressed worshippers during Idd ul-Fitr prayers in Nairobi, urging the Opposition to move away from personal criticism of President William Ruto.

Speaking at the Sir Ali Muslim Club grounds on Friday where thousands gathered to mark the end of Ramadan, Duale stressed that national conversations should be anchored on policies that improve lives rather than political attacks.

He singled out housing, infrastructure, education reforms, agriculture, universal healthcare, and the stability of the Kenyan shilling as areas demanding serious engagement.

The Health CS joined Muslim faithful in prayers and extended Eid Mubarak greetings to communities in Kenya and beyond. He encouraged them to uphold the discipline, generosity, and compassion observed during the holy month, urging continued support for those in need.

He described Idd ul-Fitr as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and unity, reminding worshippers that the values nurtured during Ramadan should guide daily life even after the fasting period ends.

Duale also used the platform to criticise civil society groups, accusing them of failing to act fairly in political matters.

“Civil society organisations had watched without reaction as Opposition leaders slandered the President. However, they were quick to speak out and condemn the President when he chose to retaliate,” Duale said.

According to the CS, progress in the country will depend on leaders focusing on solutions to key challenges instead of engaging in personal disputes. He said constructive engagement on development priorities is what will drive growth and protect livelihoods.

He emphasised the need to push forward reforms in agriculture, education, and healthcare, while also investing in infrastructure and ensuring the Kenyan shilling remains stable.

Duale ended his remarks with a call for unity and responsible leadership, urging all sides of the political divide to prioritise the interests of citizens and steer public debate towards meaningful change.
