Four robbery suspects nabbed, stolen motorcycle recovered in Busia

Police in Busia arrested four robbery with violence suspects and recovered a stolen motorcycle, while officers in Meru recovered 25 stolen cattle, underscoring the impact of community cooperation.

Police in Busia County on Saturday, March 28, 2026, arrested four robbery with violence suspects and recovered a stolen motorcycle following a gang attack at Sinduru Bridge.


The suspects were apprehended after members of the public responded swiftly to an alarm raised by the victims and pursued the assailants, who had intercepted a motorcycle carrying a pillion passenger.


According to the National Police Service, the gang comprised seven individuals armed with pangas, clubs, and metal rods, who robbed the victims of their motorcycle.


“Following an immediate alarm raised by the victims, members of the public responded swiftly and pursued the assailants,” the police said, highlighting the crucial role of the community in the arrests.


The pursuit resulted in the capture of four suspects, who are now in custody at Busia Police Station, while the stolen motorcycle has been secured as an exhibit pending further police processing.


Officers confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining three suspects who managed to flee the scene.


The National Police Service commended the public for their quick response, noting that community involvement was instrumental in recovering property and apprehending the suspects.


“We commend members of the public for their support, which led to the recovery of property and the arrest of the suspects,” police said.


Elsewhere, in Meru County, officers from Mutuati Police Station, led by the Sub-County Police Commander, conducted an intelligence-led operation to recover stolen livestock.


During the operation, 25 head of cattle were recovered at Boji in Garbatula Sub-County of Isiolo County, with efforts ongoing to locate additional livestock and arrest suspects.


The National Police Service commended the officers involved for their professionalism and swift action in both incidents, stating, “We commend members of the public for their support, which led to the recovery of property and the arrest of the suspects,” and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding livelihoods while urging the public to continue sharing timely information with law enforcement.
