A High Court has upheld a National Transport and Safety Authority directive requiring the removal of graffiti, artistic designs and tinted windows from public service vehicles. The ruling is a major setback for operators who have been pushing Kenya’s Nganya culture. In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, Justice Bahati Mwamuye dismissed a petition that had challenged the enforcement notice issued in May last year. The court instead ruled that the directive is constitutional, lawful and properly grounded in public safety considerations.
