According to the DCI, the latest arrest was made through a joint operation between officers from DCI Headquarters and their Kisumu County counterparts.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested another robbery with violence suspect in Kisumu, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to two in an ongoing crackdown on a suspected criminal network.

The suspects, identified as Dennis Odhiambo Miruka and Brian Makaya Mukaisi, are linked to a string of robberies across Kisumu and parts of the Western region, as well as a deadly incident involving stolen firearms.

According to the DCI, the latest arrest was made through a joint operation between officers from DCI Headquarters and their Kisumu County counterparts.

“One more notorious robbery with violence suspect has today been arrested in an ongoing joint operation,” the agency said in a statement.

Authorities added that credible information links the duo to several robberies in Milimani, Majengo, Jebrok, Kiboswa, Malava, Iguhu, Gita, Mamboleo and Riat areas.

The suspects are also under investigation for an attack in which several police officers and a civilian were injured. Tragically, one officer later succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident.

During the attack, the suspects reportedly stole two G3 rifles, which they have since been using to carry out robberies.

Police confirmed that one of the stolen firearms has been recovered on Tuesday when the first suspect was arrested, while efforts to retrieve the second weapon and apprehend other members of the gang are ongoing.

“The operation to recover the remaining firearm and arrest other members of the criminal network are ongoing,” the DCI stated.

The agency reiterated its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and enhancing public safety. It also called on members of the public to assist with information that could aid investigations, urging them to report anonymously through its toll-free and WhatsApp lines.
