The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has appointed Nashon Kondiwa as its new Director General for a three-year term effective February 17, 2026.
In a statement released on February 18, 2025, the NTSA Board of Directors, in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Roads and Transport, announced the appointment, expressing confidence in Kondiwa’s ability to lead the Authority into its next phase of growth and reform.
“The NTSA Board of Directors, in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Roads and Transport, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Nashon Kondiwa as the Director General of the National Transport and Safety Authority for a term of three (3) years,” the statement read.
Kondiwa brings over 22 years of distinguished experience in information and communication technology (ICT), innovation, public sector leadership, transportation, intelligent transport systems, urban mobility, and digital transformation within the road transport sector. His appointment signals continued emphasis on technology-driven reforms at the Authority.
Prior to his elevation, Kondiwa served as Deputy Director, Information Communication Technology at NTSA, where he spearheaded the digital transformation of the Authority and its service delivery systems.
During his tenure in that role, he led the modernization of key operational platforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of services to the public.
The Board, chaired by Hon. Khatib Abdallah Mwashetani, said it is confident that Kondiwa’s experience and institutional knowledge will strengthen road transport management and safety outcomes nationwide.
“Mr. Kondiwa's proven expertise in ICT leadership, strategic vision, transportation, and deep institutional knowledge will steer NTSA to even greater heights, delivering measurable improvements in road transport management, road safety outcomes and operational excellence,” the statement added.
NTSA plays a central role in regulating road transport, enhancing safety standards, and overseeing digital systems that support licensing, vehicle registration, and compliance enforcement across the country.
Kondiwa’s appointment comes at a time when the Authority continues to prioritize innovation and intelligent transport systems as part of broader efforts to improve road safety and service delivery.
His leadership is expected to reinforce NTSA’s digital agenda while strengthening operational efficiency and accountability in Kenya’s transport sector.
